Stichting Karam verleent gratis medische zorg aan en zamelt medische hulpmiddelen in voor armen in Marokko.

Er doen 12 teams mee en de opbrengsten komen ten goede voor Stichting Karam

Na drie overwinningen op rij is FC Chabab van de veertiende naar de elfde plaats opgeklommen

De zegereeks duurt voort. FC Chabab heeft gisteren ook de derde wedstrijd sinds de winterstop gewonnen. Moustapha El Amrani maakte de enige goal. De sfeer zat er na de wedstrijd goed in. Het team was gezamenlijk uit eten gegaan om het goede spel van de laatste weken te vieren.

Aanvoerder Jeffrey Mols: “Dit is de kers op de taart en teambuilding kan natuurlijk nooit kwaad.” Volgens Mols kwam de omslag bij hem en zijn teamgenoten tijdens de winterstop. Chabab stond laatste en had weinig uitzicht op een betere positie. “Het besef kwam dat iets moest veranderen.” Trainer Simon Ouaali veranderde de tactiek naar countervoetbal. Het kwam hem op kritiek te staan, maar de resultaten hebben hem gesterkt in zijn keuze.

Daarnaast vindt Ouaali dat de houding van veel spelers sterk is verbeterd. “De jongens voeren de taken nu veel beter uit. Voor de winterstop was dit geen team; op het veld stonden losse, individualistische spelers Dat is anders geworden.” Chabab heeft zich vorige maand ook kunnen versterken. Jeffrey Sam-Sin kwam over van Haarlem.

Een andere, verrassende verschijning is die van Azuza Souidu. De dertigjarige Marokkaan komt rechtstreeks van een betaald voetbalclub (met een niet uit te spreken naam, zegt Mols) uit zijn vaderland. De vraag of Souidu het naar zijn zin heeft bij Chabab, wordt via Mols en een tolk gesteld. Hij is nog maar net in Nederland en spreekt de taal niet. “Het is leuk bij Chabab en ik heb het naar mijn zin,” is het antwoord.

Mols: “Twee weken geleden scoorde hij twee keer; dus dat was lekker binnenkomen voor hem. Azuza wordt ook goed opgenomen in de groep.” Op de achtergrond is luid gelach te horen. Mols: “De sfeer is weer goed en dat heeft voor een groot deel natuurlijk met de resultaten te maken. Maar nu ga ik weer eten, anders wordt alles koud.”
